Fashion: Japanese Host Wearing Polka Dots, Skulls & Tall Boots in Harajuku [TokyoFashion.com]

I absolutely love this kind of style on guys and myself, definitely one of my favourites if not my favourite style.. I'm very much a black, grey and white person with the odd brightly coloured funky accessory (*^^*)
I tend to dress like this on my 'off duty' days when I'm not working, since I've got to tone things down when I turn up to the office *giggles* - I stand out loads already amongst all the business suits xD

Here’s Yui, a stylish Japanese guy with a blonde hairstyle who we met on the street in Harajuku. Yui told us that he works as a host.
Yui is wearing a jacket with a polka dot pattern (some of the polka dots are smiley faces) over a long black skull-logo top, torn jeans, and knee-high leather boots. Accessories include a leopard print scarf, crown & key silver necklaces, a wrist watch, a silver skull ring, a silver chain bracelet, and a black leather bag.

Busy busy busy!... (*^~^*)

Hey there everybody!!

It's been a while since I've written! Real life has been taking over my virtual life by throwing piles and piles of work my way *^^* Hehehe.

I came back from Easter/Spring break and arrived at my office to be welcomed by an Inbox Tray about a meter high *giggles* not to mentioned I had work all the way through my 'break' (PhD Students can be seen as freelancers - we don't have official term times and tend to work throughout the year, taking breaks whenever we feel like it, or in some cases, when we have a spare day or two from projects *^^*). Hence, I've not had time to update blog any substantial posts or continue my Piano Princess fiction series; however, I've already finished my first draft of a new chapter!!! So stay tuned!!

Funny I found this picture (above) as I really AM reading about Quantum Theory by Heisenberg (*0*)
Why? Well, no I'm not a scientist but as part of my PhD course I have to study research philosophy; that is to say, more specifically areas of ontology, epistemology, theoretical perspective, methodology and methods. And Heisenberg was one who initiated something called Post-Positivism in epistemological terms. *^^* Haha I'll stop right there, but yeah, I've been diving into those heavy, dense topics (>.<;)

My office and sometimes my room would look like this....

Fashion: SuG Takeru @ Million $ Orchestra “Pastel Horror Yum Yum Show” Harajuku Exhibition with Alice Black [TokyoFashion.com]

Takeru has gained worldwide fame as the singer for the popular Japanese rock band SuG. However, his creative ambition goes beyond singing and songwriting. He is also the driving force behind the Japanese fashion brand Million $ Orchestra (pronounced “Million Dollar Orchestra”). Million $ Orchestra just held their first major exhibition in Harajuku for the brand’s new “Pastel Horror Yum Yum Show” collection. We were lucky enough to be invited to the event, where we had the chance to check out the new 2012 Spring/Summer collection and talk with Takeru about his fashion inspiration.
Takeru of Million Dollar Orchestra & SuG

The Million $ Orchestra “Pastel Horror Yum Yum Show” Harajuku exhibition featured the brand’s entire new collection – including t-shirts, hoodies, button-up shirts, cardigans, drop-crotch pants, skirts, shoes, backpacks, and various accessories. In addition to the items already scheduled for release, there were also a few bonus pieces on display which Takeru was still working on, possibly to be released later.

Hermès Scarves: Ex-Libris en Kimonos par Anamorphée ~ Le carré Hermès automne hiver 2011 - 2012 [Fall/Winter 2011-2012]

Ex-Libris en Kimonos

Design by Anamorphée

Originally a maker of kimonos founded in 1611, the Japanese fashion house Matsuzakaya in Kyoto opened its archives for us. From this meeting, this scarf was born. Bearer of multiple messages, this article of clothing must fulfil a number of codes dictated by age or social status. A myriad of themes populate its patterns: flowers and plants, f amiliar animals, objects, phenomenal natural countr yside, geometric shapes…all furnish inexhaustible sources of inspiration. Emblem of the house of Hermès,
Ex-Libris illustrates the famous duc-carriage and groom, taking shape in a patchwork of silk.

This is one scarf that I fell instantly in love with when I saw it in the catalogue that was sent to me: unfortunately I've yet had the chance to acquire this piece of art.

Everybody loves Sakura. I believe that Japan shipped some over to Seattle many moons ago for the folks over there to enjoy? You you get a dose of cherry blossoms in your kingdom too?

My Vivienne Westwood Armour Ring / Armor Ring

Finally, my Armour Ring.
I can't believe I bought this on a whim.

I was just passing by a boutique today; the sun was out and positive waves were soaring around happily. I guess the sun does that to you; makes everyone happy. I like this small cluttered boutique with quirky fashion items all crammed into a small shop floor; I like a lot of what I see, but I haven't bought anything. Yet.
It was there in the shop display unit, and since I know how quickly the sizes sell out, or the fact that they don't usually stock small sizes, I wasn't all that hopeful when I asked the sales assistant for this ring. Surprisingly they did have it in stock (*^^*)

I'm not usually one for gothic or large pieces of jewellery; not because I dislike it, but it simply doesn't suit me as well as other pieces, I feel. Being a rather petite/delicate looking (I really don't like it but people say so), I'm perhaps suited to finer pieces of accessories. Nonetheless, my crazy personality makes up for it and it doesn't stop me from purchasing anything I like (*^0^*).

This ring reminds me of several things:

Alice Nine Album Review 9 ~ "Afterword: Gemini vs. 9 ~ The Twin Albums"

As soon as I put the disc in and the start of Heavenly Tale began, a smirk played across my face. A very 'Saga-like' expression in fact, if only I had a mirror or camera to prove it.

After all, even though I had no particular expectations of what sound world the boys will pull me into this time round, the instant the intro played, I thought :
"As expected of you, this is just so 'you', I knew it".

It amused me, surprised me yet satisfied me with familiarity. This was a journey I've been waiting for, expecting, and one that would be both familiar yet completely new.

I instantly saw, heard, felt - however you'd like to put it - the connection of this album with GEMINI. Saw, because I saw it as cascading morphing images in my head; heard, because of the sound world, the magical sounds arranged in unique combinations that were infiltrating my ears; and felt, because of the emotional subconscious message it sent out to me.

Random Top Tens: Albums & EPs/Singles

Konnichiwa Everyone!

So I've finally posted my Alice Nine "9" Review *^^* I hope you've enjoyed reading it. I'm trying not to re-read it in case I make updates or edits: especially now I've listened to it much more since I wrote those notes (and it took a while for me to type them up to this blog for posting... I've been so busy!). I know it's a bit belated since the album has been out for quite some time now, but my PhD schedule has really been packed, together with some orchestral concert rehearsals I had back then.

I'm currently on Easter Break/Holiday, so luckily I get some time to catch up with some blogging *^^* I've been getting some really nice comments lately, so please continue posting and sending in your requests, complaints and comments!

I'll be starting a new set of posts called "Random Top Tens" - it's like a set of Memes which I give myself a topic so that I get inspiration to write blog posts hehehe. Please do comment and let me know what the next Top Ten topic should be!! It'd be great to see some random subjects and ideas o(*^^*)o

So, (in no particular order, and I'm pretty strict so if I don't like a certain song in the album then obviously the album in it's entirety isn't deemed good enough to be ranked. Also I'll try to include full albums rather than EPs where possible)...

Alice Nine Album Review 「9」

This review was conducted through listening to the album over 40 hours on professional headphones
Audio Technica Sovereign ATH-W1000
Cherry wood enclosures and gold-plated hardware
Please note that this review is a personal record of the opinions of a semi-professional Musician who has been professionally trained. It does not represent, on any account, any other persons' opinion. Please note that this review did not take 40hrs to complete but rather I didn't have time to write it up until I've listened to it for over 40hrs (*^.~*)

Beautifully produced, just as Gemini was. Perhaps less complex and experimental than Gemini, and explicitly rock. Controlled, displaying mastered technical musicianship. Confident and showy but not flashy or wild like Gemini. Not as compositionally ambitious – perhaps ambitious is the wrong word, less complex. It’s not as explicitly ambitious, but the layers of musical material are equally as demanding and well expressed. An album exuding confidence, competence and mastered musicianship – another landmark album in their discography.
