Hello Kitty gets a ‘Chukaman’ makeover

On January 10th, convenience store chain Circle K Sunkus began selling Hello Kitty versions of Chukaman (or steamed Chinese dumpling). The product became an instant sensation, and comments about the ‘Hello Kitty-man’ are spreading fast on social networking sites like Twitter.

“Hello Kitty-man” is a custard-filled steamed dumpling shaped like a Hello Kitty. The confectionery contains apples pieces and is easily bought for 150 yen.

Its pink wrapping paper also encloses a “Sanrio Happy Fortune”, whose messages vary from from product to product.
